Eagle was an English car company originally owned and operated by Allen Breeze. Based in Sussex, the company was founded in 1981. The first vehicle ever produced by Breeze's Eagle Cars was called the RV and was essentially a look-alike copy of an American made Jeep. However, by far the most popular vehicle ever produced by Eagle Cars was the Eagle SS made between 1981 through 1988.
The popular Eagle SS was mostly a kit car that had very humble underpinnings of the Volkswagen Beetle beneath its sweeping and dramatic bodywork. It was gull-winged and initially had its engine located in the back. Later models would eventually offer prospective buyers the option of choosing a front engine. This front engine version was based on the Ford Cortina instead. Sadly, Eagle Cars ended production by 1989 and trading by 1998. The legacy lives through private buyers and fans.
