The Volkswagen Van dates back to 1950s when trolley cars and the VW Beetle were popular. Families were getting larger; therefore, a Beetle was not a practical family car. The engineers at VW thought that combining the Beetle and the trolley car designs would be ideal for those larger families that needed an economical means of travel. There were over thirty designs made throughout the year.
From 1968-1971, the now iconic VW Busses were created. This new design, popular with the hippie generation, had a flat nose and an engine that was not very efficient. Despite this flaw, the interior of the most highly praised. It featured rear facing seats, a sofa pull out bed, a hand pump sink, and a small icebox. A gas stove was an optional feature that many young people favored. This van had everything anyone would ever need while on the road and it became a home on wheels for travelers.
Children grew to know and love this van through Scooby Doo and the Mystery Machine cartoons. The Mystery Machine was a van that was elaborately painted with flowers and a two-tone design. Since that time, many teens and adults that grew up watching the Scooby Doo cartoons ended up with a bus of their own. Whether for nostalgic purposes or because they wanted a place to live, the VW Van became a cult classic.
It is no wonder that the VW Van has become such a cult classic. It has long been a staple vehicle through American media. The van carries many memories with it throughout the United States as the choice vehicles of hippies all over.

VOLKSWAGEN Car Cover Reviews
Money well spent
by Sheri from Atlanta, GA
I do not have a garage to park my cars in. One of my cars is a 1998 VW Cabrio convertible. The top needs to be replaced. Until I'm able to replace it, this cover is keeping my car protected from bad weather that could seep into the automible and ruin the interior and the electrical components.
Kept Leaky cabriolet dry in all weather.

Outdoor winter Storage in MA of Leaky old VW Cabriolet.
Stayed nicely dry and clean. Much more convenient than the blue plastic tarp, and prettier too.
But....Needed added grommets and more secure straps to stay on in the wind.
Good Quality- return customer

Very heavy duty cover but not a snug fit for this car (2004 Jetta). This is my 2nd Empire cover, used exclusively outside. 1st one lasted 2 years in the Texas heat and scrub oak sap.
Great product, service and price!!

I use it on my daily driver, a 2011 TDI Jetta Wagon.
Now I need another for one of my collector cars, a 1962 Catalina Ventura Coupe.
1962 VW BETTLE

I needed a cover that was water proof (not just a dust cover). So far it has held up to the weather and has not leaked.
Just what I had in mind

I bought this for my '67 Bug and couldn't believe how well it fit the car.I thought it would be baggy and loose but it fits nice and snug!Didn't even have to use the draw string that comes with it to tighten it up because it has an elastic hem that keeps it wrapped up.Needless to say I am satisfied with this product!
This is one nice cover
by Dave The Dog from Carpinteria, CA
This cover is the best oine I have found. I drive my '68 VW Squareback daily. Keeping it free of dirt and overnight beach wetness is a challenge. This is the first cover that does everything it was supposed to do and looks nice doing it.
Great car cover
by knuds from Littleton, CO
So happy I decided to give this cover a shot. I use it to cover my Volkswagen R32. I waxed it to give the clearcoat an extra layer from scratches that the cover might otherwise add to the paint before putting the car cover on. It just finished raining for over an hour here and no water appeared to soak through the car cover at all. However I did notice a tiny bit of condensation on the paint on so
Perfect for my 69 VW Bug.

My bug sits out in the hot Florida sun and this cover is perfect for protecting it from the elements.
